Intenze Tattoo Ink - Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we're asked most often — about our inks, how to work with them, ordering, and the documentation behind every bottle. Can't find what you need? Contact our team.
Working with the ink
How should I store my inks?
Store them at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Shake each bottle thoroughly about once a month to keep the pigment evenly suspended.
Can I mix INTENZE ink with other brands?
We don't recommend it. Mixing brands means combining formulations whose full ingredient lists you can't see, which makes the result unpredictable and raises the risk of a reaction in the skin. Mix INTENZE with INTENZE.
What do you recommend for mixing?
Use clean ink caps and a stirrer. Our Color Mixing Solution lightens a color without changing its character, and our Special Shading Solution is built for thinning down to smooth, controlled grey work.
How do I stop pigment from clogging my needles?
Keep a cap of mixing solution in your setup and dip the needle into it every third or fourth color pickup. It keeps flow smooth through a long session.
How do I avoid diluting the pigment?
Dip often rather than deeply — roughly two seconds in the cap, four seconds in the skin. On clients with sensitive skin, set out several caps of the same color so you can keep dipping without over-working one cap.
What's the best way to get solid color into the skin?
Stretching technique does most of the work. Watch how experienced artists hold and angle the stretch — consistent tension matters more than passes.
How do I keep clients from finishing red and irritated?
Proper stretching and a smooth, light wiping technique. Heavy repeated wiping is usually what causes the redness, not the pigment.
How can I make colors heal lighter?
Thin the color with a distilled mixing solution before you work. The healed result sits lighter without losing clarity.
What's the difference between Zuper Black and True Black?
Zuper Black is heavily concentrated and thicker — built for bold, high-density work such as tribal and blackwork. True Black is our standard black, suited to general use and dark shading. Not sure which suits your style? Find Your Black walks you through it.
Can I still use ink that's past its expiry date?
No. Don't use ink after the expiry date printed on the bottle. Every bottle carries its own date — go by the bottle in your hand rather than a general rule.
Safety, compliance and documentation
Where can I find the ingredients in a specific ink?
Our Safety Data Sheet database is public. Look up the product you're using and read the sheet directly — we publish the records rather than summarizing them.
What testing do your inks go through?
Our pigments and raw materials are tested by independent third-party laboratories. Our inks are made in our own lab and manufactured in our own ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22716:2007 certified facility, and every batch is gamma-sterilized and batch-traceable. You can read more about how we document all of it on The Documentation Trail, about our REACH work on the REACH page, and about what the certification means in practice in ISO 9001:2015 certification: elevating tattoo ink safety and quality.
Are INTENZE inks vegan?
Yes. Our inks are vegan and we don't test on animals.
Which of your inks are REACH compliant?
REACH compliance is stated per product, not brand-wide — check the individual product page for the ink you're interested in. Our GEN-Z REACH range is formulated specifically to meet it. The REACH page explains what the regulation covers.
How do I know my ink is genuine?
Buy directly from this site or from an authorized distributor. If you've bought elsewhere and something looks wrong, our Verify Your Ink page shows what to check — enter the sterilization lot number from the bottom of the bottle and you'll see the record for the run it came from. You can also email sales@intenzeproducts.com with the batch/lot number and photos and we'll confirm it for you.
Can I use INTENZE ink for permanent makeup?
Not our tattoo inks — those are formulated for tattooing. For permanent makeup we make a dedicated line: Pro Nouveau PMU pigments, covering brow, lip, blush, areola and paramedical work. Use the PMU pigments for PMU.
Do you offer tattoo removal?
No, we don't offer removal services.
Choosing ink
How do I choose the right set?
The 19 Color Set is our most popular starting point and covers the essentials. Our artist series sets are built around a specific style — portrait, black and grey, color realism — so the set name tells you what it's for. Browse all ink sets.
How do I choose colors for a specific skin tone?
Use Find Your Palette. It lets you browse our range by skin tone so you can see which colors hold and read well, rather than guessing from a bottle swatch.
Do you have digital swatches I can design with?
Yes — our ProCreate palettes are free to download, so you can design in the actual colors you'll be tattooing with.
Orders and shipping
When will my order ship?
We aim to ship the same day for orders placed before 1:00 PM PST; otherwise the next business day. Orders typically leave us within 24–48 hours. We don't process or ship on weekends or major holidays. Carrier delivery time is additional to our processing time.
How do I track my order?
You'll get a tracking number by email as soon as your order ships.
Do you charge sales tax?
Sales tax is charged on orders to New Jersey and Nevada.
What currency are your prices in?
All prices on this site are in US dollars (USD).
Am I responsible for customs duties on international orders?
Yes. Any duties, taxes or customs fees charged when your order reaches its destination country are the recipient's responsibility. We can't predict or pre-pay them.
My order arrived damaged. What do I do?
Email sales@intenzeproducts.com with your order number and photos of the damage and we'll sort it out.
How do I cancel or change an order?
Call 201-342-4446 or email sales@intenzeproducts.com as soon as possible. If we can stop it before dispatch, you're refunded in full — no restocking fee, no return shipping. Once an order has shipped it becomes a return rather than a cancellation. Full detail is on our cancellations policy.
What's your returns policy?
Returns are accepted within 30 days of the date you receive your order. Items must be unused, in original condition and original packaging, with proof of purchase — ink bottles must be unopened and untampered with. A 20% restocking fee applies to returned orders, which we may waive case by case. Original shipping is not refunded, and return shipping is the buyer's responsibility unless the return is our error. Email us before shipping anything back so we can send you return instructions. Full terms are on our refund policy page.
