Tattoo Ink Blog - About Intenze Tattoo Ink

People ask me why a working tattoo artist would walk away from the machine to go make ink. The honest answer is that I did not have a choice — the inks I was handed as a young artist kept letting me down, and I could not live with putting work in someone's skin that I knew would not hold. So this is the short version of how INTENZE happened, and why it is built the way it is.
Back when I started, the ink was a mystery. You bought a bottle, you trusted it, and half the time it betrayed you — blacks drifting blue, colors going flat, crisp lines turning to fog a couple of years after the client walked out happy. Nobody would tell you what was in the bottle, because no manufacturer thought the artist deserved to know. That bothered me more than anything. Your name heals into somebody's skin and stays there for life. You have a right to know exactly what you are putting in.
So I started making my own. And in 2002 we did the thing the industry did not want done: we became the first company to publicly disclose our ink ingredients. That one decision dragged the whole trade toward transparency, and it set the standard I have chased ever since — prove it, do not just claim it. Everything we have built since, right up to the REACH-compliant GEN-Z line, is that same idea carried forward.
Today every bottle is made in our own USA facility — ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22716 certified — gamma-sterilized, vegan, and traceable by batch and lot. We do not buy pigment from somewhere overseas and slap a name on it. We make it, we test it, and we stand behind it, because I will not put my name on anything I would not run myself. How we manufacture and prove every bit of that is documented on our INTENZE Advantage page.
And that is exactly why the counterfeits make me so angry. Somebody out there is bottling fakes with my name misspelled on the label — I have been on the phone with a company overseas that tried to explain to me how they invented my colors, right down to Mario's Blue, colors I mixed with my own hands. A counterfeit bottle is a gamble on a stranger's skin, and when it goes wrong the artist takes the blame. Building a brand you can actually trace is the answer to that, and it is exactly why we batch-code every bottle and put our name behind it.
So when you reach for a bottle from the professional line, know what you are holding: forty-plus years of one stubborn idea, that an artist deserves ink they can trust and a client deserves work that lasts. That is the entire company. That is the whole point.
KEEP ON BUZZING
